Woollaston

Woollaston Sauvignon Blanc 2014 Nelson
Concentrated, mysterious and varietal with strong mineral suggestions. I really like the bouquet on this wine - it shows attention to detail with a sense of place as well as lively wild Sauvignon detail; soft herbal suggestions laced with silty mineral notes; peach, apple, tropical and sweet citrus fruit. On the palate - dry with lots of mineral and citrus flavors then apple and a little tropical; high acidity keeps the palate fresh. A wine that could do with some more bottle time or just well chosen food accompaniment.

Woollaston Pinor Noir Rose 2014 Nelson 13%
Aromas and flavors of light red fruits with a silty mineral under tone - there is complexity as well as charm; red cherry, strawberry and peach flavors make for a very tasty wine with a dry finish. Medium++ acidity, balanced and well made in a refreshing slightly savory style.

Woollaston Pinor Noir 2012 Nelson 13%
Aromas and flavors of ripe red cherry and strawberry fruits; a savory edge and silty earthy quality adds complexity; medium weight with a light savory quality; medium+ acidity. Quite youthfully taut and requires decanting or a few more months to relax and begin to integrate. Will cellar for 3-5 years yet. Medium tannins and savory o the finish with some dried herb notes.
